Rent commencement

The date on which a tenant's obligation to pay rent begins, which may differ from the lease commencement date if a free-rent period has been negotiated.

Free rent is a landlord concession. The length of the free-rent period, whether it applies to base rent only or also to CAM and taxes, and what happens if the tenant defaults during the free period are each separate issues.
